Greg Spirakis
Retired Intel Design Technology Executive and EDA angel investor.
Formerly vice president, Technology & Manufacturing Group and director of Design Technology at Intel Corporation, he was responsible for the development and delivery of software technologies and tools for the computer-aided design of silicon chips in Intel's four major architecture families: the 32-bit Intel Architecture; the Itanium Processor Families; the Personal Client Architecture (PCA); and the Internet Exchange Architecture (IXA). Spirakis joined Intel in 1982 as an EPROM reliability engineer and subsequently held a variety of technical and management roles. He received a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and Materials Science Engineering from UC Berkeley in 1982.
Jim Hogan
General Manager, Vista Ventures Partners and, previously, a General Partner at Telos Venture Partners
Earlier, he held senior executive roles in EDA, semiconductor intellectual property, semiconductor equipment, and fabrication at Artisan Components; Cadence Design Systems, where he also was a Cadence Executive Fellow; Smart Machines, Inc.; National Semiconductor; and Philips. He also serves on the Board of Advisors at San Jose State's School of Engineering, and on the board of directors for several early stage technology start-ups. Jim has a BA degree in mathematics, a BS degree in computer science and an MBA from San Jose State University.
Juan-Antonio Carballo
General Partner at Argon Ventures
Previously worked for IBM, where Juan-Antonio received several awards; and at Digital Equipment, LSI Logic, Accenture, and EDF. American Venture Magazine named him Number 1 in the "Top 40 Under 40" list in 2006. Author of more than 50 articles, he has 23 patent filings and has organized more than a dozen conferences and symposiums. He has served as Chair of: the ITRS Design Technology Roadmap; IEEE Design Automation Committee; ICCAD Publicity; and as CTO of the VSIA Alliance from 2004-2005. He holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Michigan, an MBA from the College des Ingenieurs (Paris), and an M.Sc. in Telecommunications Engineering from UPM (Madrid).
Kathryn Kranen
Jasper Design Automation president and CEO, and EDA Consortium vice-chair.
A 20-year EDA industry veteran with executive experience at three successful technology startups, Kathryn previously created an entirely new market – testbench automation – while at Verisity Design. Earlier she was at Quickturn Systems; Daisy Systems; and Rockwell International, as a chip design engineer. Vice chairperson of the EDA Consortium board of directors, she has been elected to the EDA Consortium board four times by EDA industry CEOs. Kathryn received the prestigious Marie R. Pistilli Women in EDA Achievement Award in 2005. She holds a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from Texas A&M University.
Marty Deneroff
Head of Engineering at D E Shaw Research (DESRES), also serves on the High End Computing Revitalization Task Force and the Council On Competitiveness
Previously, Marty was Vice President of Server and Platform Engineering as SGI. Earlier, he worked at Concurrent Computer, Auragen Systems, Trillium Systems, Advanced Technology Systems, Sigma Electronics, and Motorola. He holds 16 U.S. patents and is the author of several scholarly papers, all in the area of multiprocessor computer architecture. Marty received a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and an M.S. degree in Computer Science from Monmouth University.
